In october 2020, DEEP Germany conducted a Storytelling project with children and youth in a shelter in Cologne. The workshop addressed children and youngsters between 9 and 15 who like storytelling and would like to work with a camera.
Through experiential learning we identified resources and talents of the participants. Storytelling and sharing narratives of others in the first person enabled an active and reflected engagement with the lived experiences and problems. By doing so the participants strengthened their empathy and the ability to take someone else’s perspective. We created a space for new narratives.
We are very grateful for the cooperation with and the realization of the project through ‘Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Arbeit Bildung Kultur NRW e.V.‘.
